Cross country, being the annual event held in school, was also held this year on the 13th February 2009 at Nanyang Polytechnic. Not only that, we also commemorated our Total Defence Day on the same day.
Few days before this event, our class teachers explained the meaning of the different defences and the importance of it in Singapore. Also, we had a class activity that consisted of a quiz based-on what were taught.
On the day of Cross Country, the girls had to run a total distance of 2.6 kilometers and the boy had to run 3.6 kilometers. We also had a competing round among the girls and boys of different levels. We also had a free supply of MILO by the school. On the whole, I enjoyed the event and would participate in the following years’ events too.

Reflective Summary
Date: 8th March 2009
Time: 5.45 pm
From all the past reflective journals, I have learnt a lot about the climate changes and I will use my knowledge wisely in other situations pertaining to this subject.
Firstly, I have learnt about what climate change is long term effect on shift in statistics of the weather. Also, I was able to understand how the climate change, global warming and the greenhouse effect are related.
After that, in my second journal, I was able to differentiate between the causes by natural variability and human activities. Also, I learnt how human use the earth’s natural resources selfishly and how their activities harm the earth.
In my third journal, I learnt about the effects of climate changes. It has been proven that human acts are ones that affect the earth very badly. I also learnt how small occurrence such as cutting down of trees to make paper can harm the earth.
In my forth journal, I wrote about tips that we can follow to save whatever we are left with on Earth. I have also been following the tips and I am happy that I am saving part of the resources on Earth. I sincerely hope many people will use the tips too.
Lastly, in my fifth journal, I talked how environment events can help to educate the public. In this situation where many people have to cooperate to change the earth for the better, I am very glad to say that the Earth Hour that was conducted recently has served its purpose on not only saving the Earth but also bringing public awareness on the need to save the remnants on Earth.
Thus, through this project, I have learnt many useful things that I might be able to use in the future. This project has taught me the urgency of saving the earth and I will do my part to save my home, the Earth.

Reflective Journal 5

This article that I read was something different. It said about how people around the world tried to get the environmental message on how to save the world for the better. Unfortunately, only some messages caught the public’s attention.
A global movement such as Earth Hour has caught may people’s attention. It not only caught the public’s attention but also served as a lesson to the public to teach them about the urgency to save the earth.
I really think that people would have lots of tips that they can follow in their daily lives from the various channels like National Geographic. The channel flashed many tips for public to follow.
I really hope the public will use the tips wisely and join in this movement to save our home.
