The article I read about explains totally about the harmful effects of climate change. These effects all harm the mankind and the environment that they live in.
The effects of climate change can range from floods to hurricanes. Firstly, the ice bergs are melting. This would lead to a rise in sea level and even tsunami. Warmer temperature can also affect human’s health. Also drought can take place in lots of places. That would lead to sort of food supplies and cause health problems.
Thus, we should try our best no to contribute to the climate change as it only affects us, humans.

School Holidays
Holidays are the days where we can set our minds off the books and time for us to relax our minds. Last year, however, was very different from which i had before. This time, the holidays were longer and started even before Deepavali. I had a opportunity to spent a longer period of time in Malaysia, were i celebrate Deepavali. The week i had stayed there were filled with endless joy. I had a chance to visit all my relatives and played fire crackers with my cousins.
Though i had spent many memorable moments there, i did not forget to revise my work and keep up to my standards. I think this is the best way to improve on our academic work. Besides revising my work, i also spent valuable time with my family and had a very good chance to catch up with whatever i had missed out with them.
Thus, holidays, in my opinion, does not only mean freedom to me but also time to catching up with our family. To me, spending holidays in a meaningful and useful manner would help us in building a bright and broader future ahead.

Reflective Journal 2
Date: 19 January 2009
Time: 5.48 pm
This article that I read educated me on the causes of climate change. I have learnt that the changes occur mainly because of natural variability and human activities.
Firstly, natural variability is the interactions between the land, ocean and the atmosphere. An example of such an interaction is the crustal plate movement. This movement can cause volcanic eruption and earthquake. These natural disasters can also contribute to climate changes.
Sometimes, the energy we receive from the Sun may vary. When we receive energy more than needed, the Earth’s temperature tends to increase and that increase may cause climate change too.
The other main reason of the cause of climate change is human activities. Human activities such as polluting due to release of harmful gases from the factories and burning earth’s precious resources such as fossil fuels to generate electricity. The over-usage of CFC(chlorofluorocarbon) has caused the depletion of the ozone layer. The ozone layer helps prevent the harmful UV rays from harming our skin which can cause skin cancer.
Thus, we must not contribute to the cause of climate change as it has harmful effects on us.

Reflective Journal 1
Date: 11 January 2009
Time: 11.30am
I have selected a perfect website that could help me with my project on climate changes. Indeed, I needed a website that provides me with detailed information on what is climate change.
As I read the introduction, my understanding on climate changes widen. I could clearly understand what was meant by climate change. By the term ‘climate change’ I am more or less able to come up with the meaning of it which is the long term effect on shift in statistics of the weather.
Another thing that I learnt is that climate change, global warming and the greenhouse effect are related. As we know, climate change occurs mainly because of the change in statistics of the weather. This happens mainly because the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually the increase in the amount of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere which leads to global warming which is the increase of Earth’s surface temperature.
Thus, climate change does not occur by itself but due to other changes and effects such as global warming and greenhouse gases. After reading this article, I got a rough idea on what is climate change and how it occurs.

Growth Day
Growth Day is something special that is held only in Chong Boon Secondary School for the past four years. This day is specially planned for the school to set targets as a school to achieve the theme of the year ‘Beyond Bridging Gaps’. I felt that this year we, as a school, have achieved the purpose of Growth Day.
Unlike last year, this year was a bit different and interesting. In addition to the target setting, we had something more to do. During the earlier part of the day, we were briefed on the ’16 Habits of the Mind’. During this briefing we had a few of our schoolmates to do a talk relating to the trip they had been to during the December holidays from which Mr. Wong had related some of the incidents that were shared by them to the ‘16 Habits of the Mind’.
We had to create an advertisement for about thirty seconds to explain the meaning of the ’16 Habits of the Mind’. Our class was supposed to explain ‘Thinking and communication with clarity and precision’. We successfully did an advertisement but sadly, when it was screened at the school hall, most of them did not understand the concept. Though we did put in lots of effort, we were not able to deliver the message clearly to the school. I, not feeling discouraged about this, started to think of an alternative way that we could have put the video in order for the school to understand the whole concept better.
Aside from this, we also had to do our target setting for each of our subject. I was also inspired by the story my teacher told us. It was about how she managed to achieve what she wanted. I felt that it was time that I work harder to achieve what I wanted as well. Because nothing worthwhile comes easily, I have started working harder then I had.
From this Growth Day, I have indeed been inspired by many things. I hope it had also been the same with my friends and schoolmates. I hope Growth Day serves its purpose fully like this particular one every year.
